“Bright Girls” is an NFT collection of 100 unique videos (90 unique, 9 secrets and 1 super secret). This is one of “JAPANESE CONTEMPORARY” collections curated by Bright Moments. The whole collection will be exhibited at Digital Garage in Shibuya PARCO from May 5th to 9th, 2023.
The mint pass method, in which 100 types of NFTs are randomly assigned, reminds me Carddas (trading card machine) that I loved and bought when I was a child. When I opened cards, I always felt exhilaration and excitement for rare cards and it immediately grabbed my heart as a child. The composition of the collection was based on this experience.
All videos are created with AI images and Generative Art. This collection is a culmination of works that combine AI-generated portraits and generative art, which I started exploring since 2022.
Images created in Midjourney are all re-creation of Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa', Johannes Vermeer's 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' and Gustav Klimt's 'Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I' with some arrangements. The 90 videos are created with TouchDesigner (node base software for visual coding), with each image assigned a color of gold, silver, or copper, using a different method for each of 10 images and colors.
For me, creating video is very similar to painting. I started my artistic career from oil painting. The time spent working on a single painting over time and the joy I feel when the painting is completed are very similar to the process of creating a video. It is very natural for me to get inspired by the works of the great masters.
"Bright Girls" pays tribute to the masters who built the history of art, and pursues a collection that reflects the present of "Japan" where the past (tradition) and the present (technology) coexist. Besides, personally, I would be happy if I could deliver "bright moments" to those who minted the work.
